Daniel Mandler is a Professor of Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry of the Hebrew University and the incumbent of Archie and Marjorie Sherman Chair. He obtained his education at the Hebrew University and spent two years as a postdoc at the University of Texas in Austin with A. J. Bard. He is a full Professor since 2003 and has served different duties such as the Head of the Chemistry School and the Vice Dean for Research of the Faculty of Exact Sciences. He is also a visiting principal scientist at the Nanyang Technical University in Singapore and was a visiting Professor at the University of Buenos Aires, Warwick University, and Ulm University.
He serves also as a topic editor in the Journal of Solid State Electrochemistry and on the editorial board of ChemElectroChem. His research interests span from analytical to physical electrochemistry, scanning electrochemical microscopy, conversion and storage of energy (solar thermal as well as supercapacitors) sol-gel technology, thin films and polymers, forensic science, and nanotechnology. Among his achievements are the application of self-assembled monolayers in analytical chemistry, the development of new electrochemical methods for the deposition of sol-gel, and the application of nanotechnology for the visualization of fingerprints. More recently, he has developed a new approach for the electrodeposition of nanomaterials from their dispersions, which is termed from “nano to nano”. He has also entered the field of electric energy storage and has had collaborations with China, Taiwan, and Singapore working mostly on combined batteries and supercapacitors
He has supervised more than 75 MSc and 25 Ph.D. students, published 300 papers, and has an h-index of 57 (WOS). He is a member of the ECS and ISE where he served as the Chair of Analytical Electrochemistry.
